A Boris Kitty Story From Matney Woodard

God Made Today

Sometimes the cares of the world make us forget that God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. We should be thankful every day for His love and concern. That is the message that Boris shares with his friends in this story. We should enjoy every day, because God makes each one. A Christian children's story for kids of all ages.

"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." -- Psalm 118:24

God Made Today

By Harrison Woodard

Boris climbed through his pet door and out into the backyard. It was a warm sunny day. He looked around his yard. The flowers were in full bloom and a soft breeze kissed the trees.

“God made today,” said Boris. “It will be a great day!”

He ran over to Taffy’s house.

“I’m going to the park,” said Boris. “Do you want to come with me?”

“My family went away and left me all alone,” said Taffy. “They have been gone so long. I don’t know if they will ever come home.”

Boris thought for a second. Full-Color Literacy Activities Books

“Don’t be lonely. God is always with you,” said Boris.

Taffy smiled.

“God made today!” said Boris. “Just say it and believe it. They’ll come back.”

“Thanks Boris,” said Taffy.

Boris said goodbye and ran over to Montana’s house.

“Montana, do you want to go to the park?” asked Boris

Montana peeked out his pet door.

“My mother was knitting a sweater for a friend,” said Montana. “After she left, I started playing with the yarn. Before I knew what happened, I had destroyed the sweater. I don’t think she will ever forgive me.”

Boris thought for a second.

“Don’t be afraid. God will forgive you, and so will Mrs. Tinney,” said Boris.

Montana smiled.

“God made today!” said Boris. “Just say it and believe it. Everything will be fine.”

“Thanks Boris,” said Montana.

Boris said goodbye and ran to Fred’s farm. He climbed over the fence and paused at the chicken coup just long enough to give them a little scare.

“Hey Fred,” said Boris. “How are you today?”

“I’m feelin’ purty tired,” said Fred. “I must be comin’ down with somethin’.” One-Minute Bible 4 Students

“Don’t be sick. God will keep you healthy,” said Boris.

Fred smiled.

“God made today!” said Boris. “Just say it and believe it. You will not get sick.”

Fred thanked Boris for the advice.

“I’m going to the park,” said Boris. “Why don’t you join me?”

“Maybe later,” said Fred.

Boris ran all the way to the park. He looked around, but there were no other animals in sight.

It was such a nice day. Boris decided to lie down in the warm grass and watch the clouds drift by.

"I’ll just enjoy today all by myself," said Boris. “Thanks God for this wonderful day.”

He closed his eyes and took a little catnap.

After a little while, Boris woke up and saw Fred standing over him.

“I thought you were feeling sick,” said Boris.

“I guess I’m not too old to learn somethin’ new,” said Fred. “I started thinkin’ ‘bout what you said. And you were right. I’m not gonna be sick today. God made today!”

“That’s great!” said Boris.

“Can I join you?” asked Fred. Veggie Tales Video, DVD, Music, and More

“Please do,” said Boris.

So Fred lay down next to Boris.

After a little while, Taffy arrived.

“Hey guys,” said Taffy. “Would you like some company?”

“Sure,” said Boris. “But what about your family?”

“You were right, Boris. They will come back,” said Taffy. “I don’t know why I was worried. God made today.”

A few minutes passed and then Montana joined them.

“What happened with the sweater?” asked Boris.

“Well, mom was a little upset, but she knew I was sorry. She forgave me just like you said she would,” said Montana. “You were right, Boris. There was no reason to be afraid. God made today!”

They all lay down in the grass and enjoyed the rest of the day.

God made today.

How could they not enjoy it?
